Everyone reading this post knows exactly what we’re talking about here, if not the proper nomenclature. It may have been referred to as ‘Google Maps’ or the ‘Local Business Center,’ as both have worn the tag thrown on Google’s granulated localized environment.

Until further notice from the wizard, it remains Google Places.

Dental practices are local businesses!

And local businesses need to properly communicate their NAP, in a SoLoMo way, or they’ll soon be SOL!  

Local businesses, and dental practices, need to properly communicate their name, location, contact info, website links, social media profiles, customer review, photos, videos, logos, categories, keywords, and any other possible option that becomes available (or we missed), to Google Places.

  • NAP – Name, Address, Phone
  • SoLoMo – Social Media, Local Search, Mobile Marketing
  • SOL – you really didn’t expect a definition for that acronym did you?

In all likelihood your dental practice is already listed in Google Places, and don’t be surprised if you already have reviews on there that you had no idea about – Google has been pulling them from different websites for a couple few years at the time this article is being written.

  2. Citysearch.com (just search your city)
  3. Superpages.com
  4. ExpressupdateUSA.com
  5. Yelp.com (be careful!)

These sites give your local search engine listings the citations necessary to begin expanding your local search visibility. Some carry more weight with the search engines than others, and that will change and adjust as the environment evolves.

Here’s the best part…

Confirming your practice listing for a basic listing in all, and at the very least it’s an incoming link to your website and citation to up your local search street cred.
